I didn't go to Trap. I went to Lowlife, the basement club just behind the Rhino Room. The bands were great - especially Primary Evidence- a new and exciting young Adelaide crew who played last on the bill ๐ They were sensational ๐ฅ I ate & drank nothing - except water - as it's not a restaurant. I beg you - please list Lowlife in Adelaide.
This small, unassuming bar down Cold Chisel Lane is easily arguable to be one of, if not, the best cocktail bars currently operating within South Australia (they even have a cheeky award ๐ ). Lachy, Jack, Yudai, Greg and Larry have created a magical establishment that blends a speakeasy with the comfort of being invited into their kitchen- there are only a few seats at the table (with more room for events such as Hip Hop Hennessey nights), but sitting down, sharing a drink and being invited into the atmosphere is an experience in its own. Draw on a couple coasters and try to make the Wall of Fame, go through their menu inspired by Aussie graffiti artists Toy Soldiers, or enjoy their rotating secret specials. No matter what you choose, have a drink (or 6) and experience it for yourself. There's no such thing as morning regrets after a night at trap. Unless you leave Greg a pile of sunflower seed shells for his open. Sorry Greg.
Trap. A cosy 'speak easy' cocktail bar - great for chilling with friends or making new ones! One of adelaide (not so secret) but hidden bars. It's through an old wooden door and down a set of stairs off cold chisel lane (mind your head) to a small basement with seating around an L-shaped bar. There is also more space in a back room on busy weekends, which is used for regular open mic nights. Serving up a number of creative cocktails as well as classics. Ask for the Robot for an extra surprise, or if you like things hot, try out their spicy margarita made with fermented chilli sauce. Whilst toasted sunflower seeds, sharpies, and blank coasters keep the clientele busy. The most creative sketches are on display behind the bar. It's worth checking out if you're visiting Adelaide or a local keen on trying somewhere different. Lachie, Greg & Larry will keep you hydrated and entertained!
A small bar in an iconic named back lane in the CBD. The cocktwil menu is small but quite different and the drinks were delicious and served with small individual twists. New cocktail menu Toy Soldiers, has just begun. Had the Monkey and the Mermaid. Would return to try more of their creative drinks.
This is a great concept. A bar that deliberately has a small amount of seats so that everyone gets great attention! The cocktails were delicious and the atmosphere was welcoming. I love that you can draw on a coaster and then those become the drink coasters - a very personal touch.
