Such an amazing hidden gem in the basement. 150 different rums available and nice cocktails. The staff is very friendly and willing to explain more about the different rums they serve. The menu itself is also a treat. Providing a lot of information about different rum styles and regions. The place itself has a speakeasy atmosphere and cosy interior.
Best place I had a drink in Sydney during my visit. Great rum selection, very nice vibes, a great range of cocktails, and the knowledge behind the bar could fill a library. Anywhere that does a Nuclear Daiquiri is good in my book, and if you have a taste for sweeter things the fresh sugar cane juice is a must! My only picky complaint is that the extensive menu might need a bit of improvement. Itโs too sprawling to be a simple cocktail/bar list, but too peppered with mistakes to be an interesting and entertaining guide to the rum. Such a tiny gripe though. Go here!!
If you enjoy tiki-style cocktails as much as I do, youโll have to visit this tropical rum bar in Sydney! This bar is located in the basement, just below Old Mateโs Place, another popular bar by the same people. Stepping into this bar truly transported us to the Caribbean, everything about the decor and the vibes were ๐ฎโ๐จ ๐ ๐๐๐ก๐๐ฆ๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ - AUD24 This herby hairdo made the cocktail really fun and endearing. The drink itself was their rendition of a pina colada with the addition of coffee liqueur, spiced tequila and spiced pineapple syrup. Tropical and really easy to drink ๐พ ๐๐๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐๐ข๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ซ๐ข - AUD25 The produce used in this daiquiri changes seasonally so be sure to check with the bartender before ordering. We got the one made with grapefruit, rosemary and champagne back in July and it was sweet, herby yet refreshing ๐บ ๐๐๐ข ๐ฤ๐ฉฤ - AUD22 Full of Southeast Asian flavours with the pandan & lemongrass vodka with a touch of Australia from the lemon myrtle rice milk. This fruity sour is another one thatโs totally up my alley ๐ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐จ๐๐ค - AUD24 A sparkling rum version of the old fashioned, fat-washed with coconut oil to make it a lot easier to drink ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ โ๐โ ๐๐๐ง๐ - AUD13 Simple and fuss-free, this cocktail literally combines the rum of your choice with freshly pressed sugarcane juice topped with a wedge of lime. The bartender recommended the Appleton 8 years that was toasty and spiced, mild yet delicious ๐ซง ๐ช๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ข๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฌ - AUD29 โฃโฃThink ramos gin fizz but made with a switched green mango rum instead, bringing bright, fresh flavours to the cocktail. The foam can be eaten like an ice cream as well!
Human contact is all we have left. You'll get a dose of that with your fancy glass of tasty. I haven't talked to a stranger so much since I was single. The (out of focus) cocktail worked and the free flowing water in a quakty glass means i have a chance of facing tomorrow with pleasure. Highly recommended.
Old Loveโs Bar ๐ธ Such a hidden gem right in the heart of Sydney CBD! Itโs a bit hard to find, but totally worth it once you get there. I went for the first time on a Thursday night and honestly, everything was perfect from the vibe, the atmosphere to the friendly staffs. The menu was such a surprise too โ so detailed and creative, especially with the wine and cocktails which I love the most๐ฉท I also made friends with a group of three โ they were really nice, and Iโm sure we had such a blast together! Then I totally forgot to ask how we could stay in touch for a catch-up, but hopefully Iโll see them around next time xx
