Held my graduation dinner here and the restaurant accommodated every need - including a 9pm start (not possible anywhere else in Newcastle)!! As it was a special moment I wanted a special place and Cara was perfect. The food is all thoughtfully curated and everything is delicious. For a group of 8 people the food and wine all came out quickly, and the set menu flowed really nicely - this cute restaurant had better service than most big Sydney spots. I had been here once before with a couple of girls so I knew the quality of food and wine would be top tier, but this night exceeded my expectations by far! Highly recommend this new spot from a casual wine to a sit down dinner - they can do it all. Canโt wait to go back!
This spot is unreal. Attentive service, an amazing wine list, but most importantly the food is unbelievable. The head chef and owner, Max, served us some of the tastiest and freshest food weโve had in a long time. His attention to detail is second to none, and you can really taste the exceptional quality of the seasonal produce in every bite. Itโs hard to pick a favourite, but the dishes that stood out were the chicken rillette and the garlic and chilli squid. The snapper carpaccio was also absolutely fantastic. We finished with a delicious tarte tatin and the caramelised white chocolate mousse. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Canโt recommend this place enough, weโll definitely be back.
We ordered the chef tasting plus a serve of the anchovies. Everything was fresh and delicious. The focaccia, olives and anchovies were particularly brilliant!! We really enjoyed the spatchcock and roast potatoes. The cos side was fine, perhaps a bit too much going on with the dish? It was hard to pick out the flavors. The cucumber with egg butter was interesting but for us personally, lacked flavor/seasoning. Overall we had a great time, the service was 10/10 and we will be back for sure!
What a perfect evening to come across this just opened bistro/ winebar. We enjoyed cocktails alfresco and the menu looked too good not to try something. We shared Ocean Trout Carpaccio absolutely melt in your mouth, Chicken Liver Parfait perfect with preserved cumquats. Oxtail Pie which chef explained what the difference is to what we know as a pie, loved it with Pomme Boulangรจre. While not needed it was hard to resist Chocolate Cremosa. Fantastic service with wines explained and great to meet the chef. All round my new favourite cocktail is now the Cara Spritz ๐ Needless to say the price reflects some of the wines we enjoyed tasting. Update with a recent return visit, such a refreshing menu. This time we had Shishito peppers smoked cumin salt Asparagus toasts, egg butter, chervil Charred cipollini onion, goat cheese, salsa verde Pumpkin scapece, artichokes, golden raisin with a lovely Georgian skin contact wine. All so delicious we are very much looking forward to another visit. Relaxed vibe and great place to meet. We had a dedicated driver so the price reflected this around $70 pp
Awesome little dinner spot hidden away in the Junction. Food was delicious, wine menu was great and the fit out very cosy. Staff were great and attentive. Menu focuses on share plates which were all delicious with a few mains also. Forgot to snap some photos as we dived straight in. We will definitely be back.
